Default Vr crash- Repair or Wreck?

    Hey folks,

I would just like to ask your opinions on whether or not I should attempt to repair my Vr or if I should buy another Vr and transplant my engine/transmission/suspension/interior etc into it.

The crash was over a kerb (straight edge) and hitting a tree at about 60km/h at an angle. Not sure if this is important or not but the car was still driveable and was driven 20km home without a hiccup.

Please have a look at the attached pictures and give me your opinion as to whether you think it is repairable or not.

    Thanks
    Chris

Swap it all over man, by the time you pay for the fender, front rad panel, lower rad support, bar, fender, bonnet, head lights, control arm, strut, rims, tryres, and then pay someone to fit it all paint it and labour you could easly buy a new one.

Sell it for parts sounds like the engine is good and drive line is still fine. Sell it someone doing a retro conversion. Cut your looses unless you have insurance in which case use it. But doesnt sound like you do or you wouldnt be asking..

It's a writeoff mate Lots of effort to fix that.

If you were handy with a welder, had a donor car for panels, and were willing to do a big-time cut and shut, then you COULD fix it... but I'd only be going to that sort of effort restoring an old classic. Needs new front rad support, reo bar, bumper, bonnet, LHS fender, LHS subframe, LHS wheel well, and goodness knows where it's thrown off the alignment elsewhere. Probably serious suspension issues down the track also. Could encounter panel gap issues down the track. You're best off buying another one, and using this car for spares

With that kind of structural damage to the side, you're screwed. I repaired a car with front-end damage. Cut and shut the whole front-end from a donor car, swapped over the panels and was about 2mm out at the end of it. It took me about 3 months and under $1000, including the donor car.

If you need the car quickly, then just buy a shell and throw all your gear in it. If you've got time, and the know-how, then it could be something to try. But with that kind of sidal damage there are no gaurantee's.
