    Thumbs up best rim/tyre size?

im just coming up with a list of things to do to the VS through out next year

(i hate the whole resoloutions thing - so this is my version)

ive just quit smokin and acording to the stats here in nz ill end up wit an extra $3-4000 to spend next year (if i dont ill sue the govt for liein to me hahahaha)

(im posting a few differnt threds on this so each idea gets its own replys lol)

NOW TO THE TOPIC AT HAND!!

as we all know the size of the rim and the profile and type of tyre effects everything, grip (loss of grip) acceleration, handling, responce and the list goes on

    so my question is this,

what is the best rim size, tyre profile, type of tyre and tyre width to get the most out of the avalible horseys?

any ideas or inputs are welcomed!

    thanks in adavance guys!

depends what you want... for traction go bigger/wider tyres, but if sliding is your thing go smaller. many people build potent engines and end up with zero traction, then throw on some 19's or 20's and suddenly the car has forward motion. there must be something in that

i have directionals on the back of mine (used to have all 4, but replaced 2 and went with what i could afford)
i strongly think directionals are better, but that's just my opinion

really depends on what you want. handling then go for low profile tyres and quality treads. if you want lauching/traction from a standing start then low profile tyres aren'tthe best option. also keep in mind that the bigger the rim and thus smaller profile tyres will give a harsher ride then a similar size size rim with bigger profile tyre with the same total rolling diameter.

personally i think 19's are big enough, i'd go for the manual conversion

I always thought nice fat 17's were meant to be pretty good for performance, with a decent sidewall, but not too much flex around the bends.

Too grippy and perfect? No such thing
Get the stickiest tyres you can afford, for your safety and everyone elses around you.
If your idea of a 'performance' tyre is one that lets you lose traction easily, then it might be time to lay off the grog

Careful, you'll supply him with another $3-4000/year to spend on anti-traction gadgetry

I just bought a set of 17" VT SS rims with directional tyres for my VS. It originally had the 15" chaser rims. I've noticed that the ride has gotten a little rougher but I reckon there is more traction.
This VS is guarded by shotgun 4 nights per week - You guess which 4!

i had 17s on mine and comparing them now, to the 20's i have now. the 17s handle, turn and grip so much better. hitting hard corners with a 1 inch sidewall on 20s isn't fun! steering seems to fail and the bumps are horrendous! but they look so much better!
