I'd figure $1200 - $1800 minimun though less if you have contacts. But as you're in NZ you'll probably need to add 50% unless you have a mate over the pond.

drury car parts sell everything you need to convert to T5 for $2000 but i think it's for a V8 conversion.

the VS is a pain to convert because of the 4l60e (electronic) trans. not only do you need to do the mechanical conversion, you also need to either get manual PCM and loom or use the auto PCM/loom with a modified tune (memcal). if you go for the conversion don't get a memcal from torque performance (in auckland) he's a rip-off. best to talk to Dr Bob. mechanically the conversion is fairly simple. best to try and find a VN/VP with a manual and get the complete car(except VN s1), then you basically have all the parts for the mechaincal part. they come up occasionally in the T&E for anywhere from $500 - $1000

hay mate i reciently bought a vr manual conversion kit of ebay for $610 from a wrecker. The lowest price u would b looking at is around $500 and it's probly been through hell.
Im just glad i can now get rid of the stupid auto as the gears don't draw out enough for my liking.

check trade me now for a V6 5speed conversion, buy now is $750 i think. however the flywheel looks to be a s1 VN V6 jobbie so you would need te aquire a s2 flywheel and clutch. then all you gotta worry about is a memcal to suit a VS manual conversion with auto loom

also seeing as i have no idea what im doing when looking for a transmission, what should i look out for

remember my car is a 95 vs commodore

also will i still have to have the trans cooler etc?

im guessing that most of these manual gearboxes are tough enough for track days?
