i have a vs manta with the 5L in it and it seems to be blowin up the ignition module all the time. ive had all the leads , spark plugs, dissy, coil replaced and even the battery but it still seems to do it. and i dont know why
check the harness to see if any wires have been rubbing and have become exposed, could be shorting out?
either that or your having a bad run on second hand moduals if thats what your buying
I had a look around and I can’t really find any exposed wires. And its done it 5 times now the first 3 times I had them replaced with a brand new genuine one but the last two I just got 2nd hand ones, I had an auto election look at it but he seems to think that do it if you drive them hard it will burn them out. Witch I don’t do often so im going to look at getting a whole new ignition system something after market. Any ideas?
Crane do the HI6 to by pass the standard ignition module pt no. 6000-6445.
Try outlaw speed shop, that part no. includes coil as well for $610.
Only spoke to crane and outlaw about a week ago.
Put simply, the auto electrician is a fool. Plenty of V8s around that get thrashed within an inch of their lives without having any ignition module problems. In general the modules are very reliable and perform better than a lot of after market products. There have been posts about the modules being subject to heat deterioration and also about the short life of some repaired modules. Your experience with successive failures (even with new modules) is very abnormal and points to the modules being 'killed' by something outside of the modules themselves.
