    Default quick lowering q&a

    hey fellas,
i'm thinking of putting some super low king springs on my VS,
i got 15 inch rims and the tyres say; 205/65 R15 (i know the R15 is the rim size)

just wondering how much super low's would lower it
since i got 15" wheels ( i don't reckon it would be a defective with small stock rims)

p.s i still got stock all under my car

    cheers

King springs say roughly 30-50mm i think from memory, a lot of cars lower slightly different to others, is your rear end live axle or IRS? From what ive seen IRS always seems to go lower

After they settle in (give it a month AT LEAST before you decide whether you like it) they should look like this. My VQ is riding on superlows:

Just remember, if you have brand new stuff put in, it will sit high for a month or two. As the rubbers settle in, and everything collapses a little bit, you can lose another half inch.

    thanks for the quick reply

i was also wondering if there where gonna be any wheel size restrictions?

i was thinking of getting 19" in the future, would i have to modify the suspension again (eg:, new shocks, higher struts), would there be any cons?

(I've always been undecided about getting wheels or lowering first, but lowering seems to come on top.
might get some springs or a package with front adjustable struts with springs from Pedders or some wheel place)

my mate who knows is sh!t about cars and said i would just need new disc brakes for 19" inch wheels

mate a vs exec the max legal is 17 " but most people dont follow that and most cops dont care and even if your car gets defected keep a pair of stockies to put on for the inspection

205= tyre width in mm (rims are always in inches yours would be 7/7.5 inch)
65= your profile 65mm (the amount of tyre beyween the rim and the outer diameter of the tyre) yours is a standard profile then you get low profile 35, 40 and 45mm etc..
When going king springs (or any lowered spring) and you never plan to tow with that vehicle get comfort springs not (HD) heavy duty springs, I made that mistake and have one rough ride with F all bounce and you feel every bump.

I have heavy duty linear Lovells superlow springs in the back of my VQ. They're fantastic - so stable in corners. The last thing you want is the back of the car moving up and down over a rough road in a corner.

Yeah, 'strue. But I had "comfort" springs in the back of my VP with live axle, and that was still too soft. Good thing about stiffer springs, is you can have a higher ride height with the stability you want. Most people just keep going lower and lower 'till they find the sort of travel they want, not realising that with the right swaybars and springs, they can have a well supported, stiff ride, without being dumped beyond a defect

Lol Actually that's incorrect. The profile also known as aspect ratio, is the ratio of a tyre's width to it's height expressed as a percentage. Therefore on a 65 series tyre profile height is equal to 65% of its width..

    So, 205*0.65= 133.25

If you think about it, theres no way a standard 205/65 R15 has only 65mm profile!!

I've always gone the wheels 1st. Yeah, look a dick for maybe a week on the road but labor all adds. Do it once, do it right. Obviously if your doing it yourself that's not so much of an issue.

Depending how long you wait for 19's you could probably get away with not doing the camber kit till then. But then I'm no expert.
