hey guys, just wondering when i start my car and have the clutch in it squeels at me then when i put it into gear it does it even louder? the clutch is only about a year old and it cost me $1500 cos its a duel mass flywheel clutch or something im not really good with mechanics side of thing, but once the car is warmed up and iv used the clutch a few times it seems to be fine.
has anyone ever come across something like this or heard of it some info would be great

I get that problem the day after I go on a long drive (interstate). it lasts for a bout a day, and this is the 2nd clutch I've had in this car.
yeah this is the second clutch that i got cos the last one blew! but yeah i must admit that its got worst since i got back from bathurst! did you ever get it looked at? but mine doesnt go away it does it every day!
Sounds like its either the thrust bearing or the spigot bearing a bit dry. Thrust bearing will start squealing from when you start to push the clutch in and go away when the clutch pedal is released. The spigot bearing will make a noise once the clutch driven disc starts to disengage and is noisiest with the pedal all the way to the floor. The description given leans toward the spigot bearing being dry - many mechanics don't change this when installing a new clutch.
yeah what your describing is exactly what happens, is this easy to fix cos my mechanic last time it was in for service said we couldnt really tell untill we drop the clutch out which will cost more cos of work hours or somthing? should be going in to get serviced soon!
almost certain the gearbox has to be removed to replace these 2 bearings... hence it is important to make sure your mechanic replaces them when installing a new clutch, saves you lots in labour pulling the box out again later just to do the bearings.
well thats why iv changed mechanic cos they always stuffed me around never did things right. will this do damage to my clutch if i leave it?
If its a dry spigot bearing it can stuff the input shaft on the gearbox and if its the thrust bearing and it seizes it can stuff the pressure plate fingers.....both expensive. You are probably just getting the warning signs now so I'd treat the car gently and get it fixed as soon as possible. Parts are reasonably cheap and as your mech said it's the labour cost. It may last for years on the other hand but you never know.
thanks for all the info guys ill be going to see my mechanic in the next week for sure now haha! get it all done and out the way!
cheers Leathal!
