Hi I have just bought a vs calais and was wondering what dash lights should light up when the key is turned on. When I turn mine most lights light up except for the check engine light and ABS light. Is this caused by a blown globe?
i cant remember exactly what lights will light up, but i think you should have around 5-7 lights then some should disappear after a few seconds.
do they stay on after you start the car?
some of them light up but I noticed the check engine light and abs dont light up I dont know if they do light up normally but presumed that they should. The rest of the lights go out as usuall.
Lights should be....
Battery, ABS off (turns off after a couple seconds), Check Engine, Oil, Park Brake, AirBag (if you have one), and Power (if it's on)
It's a bit tricky, but you can change/check them globes without removing the cluster. Just drop the fuse cover and you should be able to reach them from under there.
yeap, easy to change with out remove the cluster..heres a link to the post with pics.. No Right Green Indicator Light..
heres the link to the whole thread if you need it No Right Green Indicator Light..
I have had a look at the globes. There is some thin wiring that seems to connect to the abs and check engine light globe to some thing further under the dash/cluster.This wiring has melted and fused itself together. What would cause this? Do I just replace the wiring maybee having to pull the cluster out? Can someone explain or even have a picture of how these wires should be. How do I post a picture?
i have taken the cluster out for a better look and found thin wires joining up the abs, check engine and abs lights up.I had a look on my mates car aswell as pictures posted on here and have seen nothing similar. What are they? Should I try and just replace the globes without the wire attached and see what happens? I have posted a picture. Please Help![]()
the only reason they would be joined like that, is if the dark green tracks have been damaged at one stage, and the lights are affected by this. the wires are a quick fix to get them operating the way they should.
u have 2 ways of tackling this, rip off the wiring, taking note what goes where, and see if everything returns to normal. if u find more issues than what ur currently experiencing, if you can, grab another cluster the same as yours and use that cluster as a backup/parts. best and cheapest solution.
