Gents,
Had my VR off the road for a bit to fix some bits. I had started it every other week and took it around the block, just to keep it alive, but I got lazy and didnt do it for a month or so.
Recently tried to start her up and I get nothing!
First i thought flat battery, used multimeter, sure enough, 11.2v.
Hook the SS up with the jumper cables (finding a suitable piece of engine to connect the negative to is a bitch on the 5L), still no go, it clicked a bit the first time then nothing, fuel pump tried to start up but then just stops, Radio works, dash lights work, but no start.
Is 11.2v low enough to mean that the battery is totally dead and hence that it wont start even when jumped? Im not inclined to think starter as it has always cranked and started first go previously with no issues, and dont want to buy a new battery if that isnt the issue! (Im too lazy to swap the battery out of the SS too before you ask, dont want to reset radio pin etc etc)
Any help would be great.
whats the battery voltage reading whilst the key is cranking ?
Drops down to 5.xx when I turn the key, so probably not enough to even pop the solenoid.
nop not even close, looks like your up for a battery
or charge it up if you have a good charger but if the battery has lost a cell your screwed
should be maintaining close to 12volts when cranking. i'd say battery is totally stuffed

Thanks guys thought that was the case, wanted to make sure.
dont mind replacing the battery - just wanted to make sure thats what it was before i did - you just never know when it comes to electrical issues.
