I've seen a lot of different methods for initialising new keys but none of them seem to work with my statesman. The key is programed to the point that it will start the car but my door and boot buttons don't work.
Apparently i have a somewhat rare key, it's like a three button without the unlock button, as in the boot buttons in the same spot and what would be the lock button is a doors button with a space where the unlock would be.
If anyone has any experience initialising one of these keys your help would be appreciated as would any initialisation procedures that have worked for anyone else with any other vr keys.
so its a 2 button remote with a boot relese and lock/unlock button
is it a new key and have you got a old key? if so some auto elects and some lock smiths can code the lock unlock function from the old key.
or drop in to a dealer and get them to program it to the car
Yeh it's a two button but not a typical two button
It is a new key and i do have the old one both start the car my buttons work on the old one but not the new
Naturally i will go to a auto elec/dealer if i can't sort it out but from what i understand getting the buttons going is a simple procedure so long as you know what it is
the key cutter gave me some instructions that proved useless and i'd rather eat my own a**hole than go back there for what would be the fifth or sixth time now
yeah no worries, ive never had to do it manuley as i work at a deler and all i do is use the tech 1 to program both functions (immo and lock unlock) at the same time
if the theft light is flashing & it starts the car, theres nothing more to do, it is programmed.
the locksmith wouldve told you to put the new key in & turn to ignition for 10 seconds, then off for ten, then start it, this finalises the sequence, theres nothing more to be done.

Thats not what the key cutter told me, he said to unlock the door with the old key put the new one in the ignition and turn to acc for 30 seconds then off and then start the car and then the buttons were supposed to work.
On top of this i tried another method i found online involving turning the key to acc and off six times as well as another method that i can't recall the details of right now.
I just went outside to try the method doctor bob suggested and the buttons worked without me doing anything.
I have been trying the new key every time i've got in and out of the car since i got it, which was three days ago and now all of a sudden it works.
This is good news but i still have no idea how i did it. the last thing i did was drive the car using my new key, turn it off, get out, lock the doors with my old key and then try the buttons on the new one which didn't work. The same thing i've been doing for three days.
Thanks for your responses anyway.
