when im driving there is alot of heat at my feet and it feels like alot more than usual.
iv made sure that the heater is off lol and i have made the fans point on the window instead yet there still seems to be alot of heat?
i have pulled the console apart and had a look i did find a copper/gold looking pipe which when i touched it pretty much took all my finger prints off haha and i think that may be the problem?
does anyone have any info about what might be causing it to get so hot? and how it can be fixed!
cheers Leathal![]()
Sounds like your heater tap may not be sealing as well as it should.
spewin! recon it would cost much to fix? will this do any damage?
cheers!
Check out the post dated 12-10-2008 'Help needed'. An air conditioning specialist told me that it is very common for these VR/VS Commodores to have their heater taps turned 'On' even when the dial on the dash is in the 'Off' position.
cheers mate ill check that out![]()
yeh ignore the dial on the dash as it proberly hasnt been put back in the right spot when refitted after doing a stereo.... its pretty comon.
down under the dash above trans tunnel is a lever with a rod conected to it and a white plastic fitting.
pull the fitting off and the rod shuold fall out it has a thread on it then move the flap all the way open or closed then set the dial to the position u set the lever to and re fit the white clip (it presses on)..
hope that helps
yeah iv tried that when i was putting my stereo in cos thats what happend the first time lol we forgot to put it back on and i was wondering why it didnt change!
so i think it must be the heater tap cos its just way to hot down there! dont even think the heaters get that hot :P
so has anyone gotten theirs changed recently? cost?
thanks for the info![]()
i think they are about $35 from memory
not sure about the v8's but for the vs 6's there are two different types
but yeh there between 30-35
Check that the vacuum hose to the heater tap hasn't fallen off and with the engine running and heater "off" check that there is vacuum in the hose to the heater tap plus check the adjustment of the white plastic clip bit down near the trans tunnel....it has an adjustment.
It's unusual for the heater taps to leak as they usually break the plastic hose connector and dump all the coolant.
thanks for all the info guys ill check some of this out im gonna try and replace my seats today so while i got the seats out ill have a bit of room to move so ill check it out!
and i have noticed that it seems to go through a bit of coolent
thanks again Leathal![]()
