    Cool vs auto problem

hi i think i brock my auto
i hooked up a 6 metre boat and towed it about 20km only problem was i didnt notice i was in eco not power i was notacing the gear changes where longer than norm
car drives fine if you drive normalbut push the throtle down and the engine reves high then whack your back a gear while this can be a lot of fun it dose get annoying knowing it wasnt like that till i towed a boat but im not shore or cant remember if at that time i also changed or toped up the tranny oil maybe i put wrong grade oil in like dex i not dex 3
question is would towing in eco do damage or would it be more like wrong oil /burnt oil
would changing the oil /filter/pan gasket help? :how do i do code checking

dextron 1 is no longer avable and Dex 3 is the new Dex 1 and 2 if that makes sense.

sounds like the auto was having a hard time but when i borrowed the olds vs to tow a statesman on a trailer it did the same, pull the trailer off and back to normal.

these autos take load and throttle pos etc from the engine so if its under high load i.e. towing it will modify gear changes etc in the auto.

the power function only helps with towing bye holding the gears longer and firming up band's etc...

go for a drive with no trailer and see how it behaves, also check fluid level and have a smell of the oil, if it smells bad change it with a new filter Dex 3 should be used.

oil companies are releasing Dex 4 5 6 soon as the 6 speed boxes use Dex 6 its the same oil but with different charastics, as long as its a Dex designated brand it should be fine

    Cool

ok so all the dex oils the same but only getting better

yeh i had a look at the oil its not red its brown
the problem i had towing was when i unhooked the trailer i noticed gear box problem
im thinking the oil was bad before i towed

auto place tells me that these boxes are pricy to repair and that i should look for good secondhand lol
    yeh !! right ??
id be buying the same thing
think im going to drop the box get rid of all the oil buy filter and gasket as it seems fine to drive just when you kick it back a gear it reves up then drops in
i meen like floor the thing

THINKING is there a way to drain all the oil without pulling box out
would save my nabourhood from lots of f#$@ this and gee wizz that

You can pump quite a bit out by disconnecting one of the cooler hoses and run the engine till it stops pumping. You'll still need to drop the pan as well so you can replace the filter. You could also throw in a tin of "new transmission in a can" - this stuff can sometimes improve things and delay the inevitable.
If you really want all the old oil out just do 2 changes but it's a waste of a lot of oil.

it sounds like uve got the same problem as mine.
mine is only noticeable when u go round a corner.....the engine idles as u got round then u foot ur foot down and theres like half a second where its almost not in gear?similar to when the tranny fluid is real low?

no one can tell me what this is.....ive been too 3 different places and they all said the internals on the gearbox were fine

Yours sounds like the fuel return line in the fuel tank is dislodged - this causes fuel to surge away from the pump pickup when going around a corner and you get either a hesitation or engine dies.....most pronounced when tank is under 1/4. Did you get fuel pump replaced lately?
