Hos On Top Off Gearbox

Hi I am changing the transmission on my vr commodore. It is an automatic v6. What i was wondering is what the rubber hose is coming out of top and where does it go to. Is it just some sort of drainige thing or what? Thanks in advance

its a breather hose. if it had the recall back when new it should go in to the right hand subframe member, faling that it should go on the top of the dip stickfacing downwards so water can not enter

It should be put under water, driven of the end of frankston pier
