just connected a trailor on back of commy vr II after spending 2k+ on replacement engine and 2 auto boxes... had done nearly 5000k since replacing motor and trans, just done a oil change. everything running fine until i connected a car transporter on and headed to collected car and not even 20k up road car didnt make any noises or lights on dash it just died.. then wouldn't start... nice guy towed car on trailor back to my place.. then i put battery on charge for 24hrs then refitted battery to car... and blow me backwards bloody engine wont turn over so out came my powerbar and sokect and i couldn't even turn by hand... what would have happened.. there was a light rattle when first started but disappers in under 2 secs.... am i looking a a complete rebuild of engine or is there sum obvisous problems ie timing chain or cam like mentioned in the ecotec seized forum....any help would be great as i have removed the heads and have poured oil into cylinders to soak down
yea mate most likely seized if that engine was sitting aroud for a while cuz the oil pickups get crap in them and block up
Eureka styles!
ohh ok just tought id find out so just check all galleries and possibly acid bath to clean engine out k so the rattle i take would be the oil pump?
bearings most liikely
Eureka styles!
bearings, worn crank, harmonic balancer, excessive piston slap
cheers guys ill continue stripping block.. suppose wait till timing chain off then try turning crank independant from cam and vice versa... mite as well put sum go fast bits in at same time lol....
on that note what parts would be good to chuck in while i have i stripped besides new rings and bearings... thought bout the 4.1 stroker kit and possibly a head shave
You could, or you could just leave all that, and fix it up and just get it going. Its just a 6 if ya want it to go just whack a turbo on it.
funny you mention turbo just sored one of a mates suby lol
hey can anyone tell me what the part number for the full engine gasket kit is as our parts guy at work is f'n usless i have looked it up on the acl website
