please i need immediate help....... i was driving the other day and blew the fuel pump fuse so i went and replaced the fuel pump and its still doing it i havent had a car for a week now and i am lost without it!!!! i have a toyota lexcen/ vr commodore (pretty much the same thing) i have no idea what it is and i cant get an auto elec out for at least another week or 2 and im running out of money my car is stuck where it is and i have no other options of transport with 3 kids please can someone help me and give me any idea what it is????? pleeeeeeze.....
sounds like maybe a wire is touching something to blow the fuse, it happened to my vr i had the same day i got a sports exhaust system put on, so maybe just crawl under car and have a quick look to see if you can see wires touching?
other then that i wouldnt really know what else to look at if you have replaced the fuel pump.
It's probably the oil pressure switch - this is part of the fuel pump electrical circuit and fails internally resulting in a short. Cheap to fix and possible to bypass although wisest to replace.
hey, is it the 3 wires into the plastic clip next to the oil filter, or, is it the 3 wires in the plastic clip above the main crank bearing?
how do i bypass it just to see if that is the problem and if so i will replace it, in desperate.
Join the violet and red wires...do this by removing or cutting these 2 wires and leave the third which is the oil pressure warning light - this should simulate the oil pressure switch sensing oil pressure so as to power the fuel pump relay. Remember you'll need to reconnect these wires when you buy a new switch.
Please note that I've used a VS wiring diagram in the above directions but they should be the same as long as I've read it correctly. Hope this gets you out of trouble.
so i need to unplug the clip next to the oil filter? cut the red and the purple, join them together and plug the clip back in???
i found the problem it was the wires in where the spare wheel go's. $200 later![]()
I wouldnt cut the wires. When you go to put the new switch in you have to resolder and all the rest of it. Not much room there. Your better off getting a short lead of wire with alligator clips on each end and briding the two wires. Im sure you could just disconnect the connector off the switch and the car would still run, you would just have the oil light coming on (I would have to double check that works). Anyway its working now, good stuff.
