Hi,
Me again. I recently had my aircon regassed and the o-rings replaced from jay car auto elec in Brissie.
However i can hear the aircond start up and blow cold air then about 10 seconds later is cuts out, and then about 10 seconds later it starts up again.
Apart from the sound of the compressor clicking on and off and being really annoying can someone please shed any light - could it be that the aircon requires more gas?? or something else.
Any comments will help
Thanks
Sounds like there is TOO much gas in the system, if there is too much pressure there is a safety cut off which cuts the compressor, sounds like thats what is happening to you, however the same thing can happen if you are too low on gas too, to prevent damage to the compressor itself. I'd get the system checked over again by the air con specialists.
does the recpt say how much gas went in to the car? should be around 800grams approx
i have that problem now- went to a joint that does car aircons, and he said it was the fan motor, or the... sensor thingo or some BS like that cant rly remember lol sorry... but it wasnt because the gas was too high.

Hi Everyone,
I went to the auto elect's today anout the aircon. They tell me it is the compressor getting old and when the clutch heats up causing resistance and then the compressor heats up and cuts out. They tell me that it will be 1000 for a new compressor installed or 500.00 for 2nd hand with no warranty.
IS this a rip ? how hard is it to take the compressor out and chuck a 2nd hand one from the wreckers ? I suppose if I do that then i would need a regas. Or are they are work aropunds to solve this problem.
Cheers
A new compressor is ~ $500 and includes the clutch plus fitting but your description of the problem sounds like under/over gassed as mentioned above.
Hi Hako,
The auto elect guys tested the gas levels etc and said all of that was okay. The were the ones that advised me that the compressor that was the problem.
