im wanna change my power steering hoses tomorrow cause they look really shitty. just wondering if theres any precautions to take. do i have to make sure i dont get any air in the system?
Just make sure that you have a big enough container to drain the fluid into. I'd recommend using new fluid too, and throughly clean out the reservoir and strainer whilst you are at it, and make sure that no grease, dirt etc gets into the lines when you disconnect them. To bleed the system, make sure that the front of the car is off the ground, fill up the reservoir to max and then WITHOUT the engine running, turn the steering wheel lock to lock several times until the level in the reservoir goes down, and you stop seeing bubbles. If you need to top up the reservoir do so and then continue going lock to lock. Once this is done the system should be bleed, and you can start the engine and let it idle, once the fluid has been pumped around, I'd recommend going lock to lock again just to be sure.
just take note of which goes where obviously, and be sure to use quality new hoses
but Harvs82 has it down pat
