Angry This is drivin me crazy

    Car- VS V8 Commodore BT-1

Car cut out after 5 min s driving, waited 5 mins , started again, ran fine

1 month later, car stopped and could not start again for 24 hours, then ran fine all the way home, 35 mins

Went to mechanic they said electrical

Got mobile electrical guy out and as the car was fine he could not find fault, he made me up a globe and a couple of wires so I could check the ignition module when it happened again

It happened again, 5 mins from home, did the test as suggested by electrician, got an ignition module from wreckers and it made no difference, returned ignition module to wreckers, car started 24 hours later

Took car to mechanic , checked and cleaned fuel pump and fuel filter.
    Replaced coil.

He suspects distributor, so I got a new distributor,, has not been installed yet.

Over Christmas I tried to start it and it would not go.
There appeared to be a light flashing under the dash and a ticking.
Next time I tried to charge it , the battery was dead, I put a trickle charger on it overnight and it did no good. No power at all, not even dash lights.
I tried to jump start it with no success
Next day I tried to open the car to take the battery to get charged up and I could not unlock the car, either by button or manually with the kay

    Q. Could this problem be related to the key/immobilizer
    Q. Could it be computer/chip

When you charged the battery overnight but had no dash lights , did you check to see if the battery was charged by using a multimeter or a test light? If the battery is OK then i would be checking the wiring from the battery to earth and starter. Also check the wiring to the alternator and the fuses for any bad connections from corrosion.

My mate had the same problem, spent thousands on all sorts of possible things. The Sharp owner of my local autoelectrician ended up fixing it for about 60 bucks. It turned out to be a faulty immobilizer, he just bypassed it and that completely fixed the problem.

My mate had a BT1 V6 VS, we put the faulty immobilizer down to the fact that some BT1 electrics caused problems with it.

    I really hope this helps.
