Hi all,
Took my car into the local Holden dealer to get a few things checked out. $650 later i came out of holden with a brand new intake gasket. Took the car for a drive to cooktown, and half way the car brokedown. The engine had over heated badly, but plenty of coolant in the radiator and overflow. When cooled down and tried to start it again, an extremely loud bang was coming from inside the motor.
Not sure what it is, but we are going to open the motor up soon and have a look. Anyone have an idea as to what engine rebuild kit i should get for it??? I am guessing either the timing is out on the engine, or a valve has dropped and it is getting smashed when the engine is running.
Any suggestions on rebuild kits would be appreciated.
coincidence that holded replaced the intake gasket and then your car broke down? wonder if you had an apprentice do the work n forgot to tighten something...
You can pickup a complete engine for a few hundred if you want to get it goin quickly, then you can take your time to strip and rebuild your original engine. whack in some goodies whilst your at itas for rebuild kits, i havent a clue im sorry, maybe a couple hundred, but labour is the killer.
pull the engine out and apart and see what damage has been done first,
no point in buying it if it wasnt the part that went bang
