Hi, My V6 auto is havin a few problems. When I put trans into reverse it is slow to engage (1-2 secs)and shudders also when in top gear at about 80 to 100Kph it ocassionally makes a sound like you are going over lane marking ,low frequency vibration.this is on light throttle and easing off throttle seems to make it go away. Both these problems occur wether I am towing or not. The last owner told me the modules where replaced whatever that means. last time I was towing the engine warning light came on, I have checked the engine management error codes and found it was a error 68 "transmission component slipping". Which is odd as I was only towing at 80K on flat road. trip home no problem. trans oil level is fine. I am wondering if a flush and new oil will help or is it electronics?
Gearbox does everthing else as you would expect. gear changes are fine and I cant detect any slip even with full throttle. any ideas appreciated, cheers
maybe mate my guess would be to replace all spark plugs and leads. try that maybe?
I have exactly the same problem.
Its probably the tcc (torque convertor clutch,) or the tcc solenoid
At about 80 the torqe convertor locks up to save fuel so it doesn't have to engage 4th early.
Its about 600 plus fitting and service( i recommend a service,) if its the solenoid it'll be heaps cheaper.
If you can't afford it at the moment you can just drive miss daisy with the power button on, also if your not freeway/expressway driving keep it in 3rd.
Also, while your getting your box done, you could install a corvette servo, a shift kit and a boost valve.
Anyway, hope this helps

Yeop old mates right if your lucky it is just a solenoid. cheap fix and get it shifted up while its at the shop. if u got the coin
All GO
the vr commodores with the v6's in them are notorious for allowing the gearboxes to slip, it has something to do with the computer, and once they start slipping the computer just continues allowing it until its stuffed basically...so maybe u could pull the oil pan off the bottom and have a look inside see how the gears are wearing?
...FiLTHY FOX...
Thanks for the info VRV6BT1. that explains the shudder at 80K, I'll keep her in power mode when towing. Only seems to do it when towing, guess its a bit hot and bothered lol. I'll take her in for a service and see what they say. cheers
i have the same prob with the low frequency. i was told to drop her to third (mine occurs at around 95-105km/h) to see if the noise still happened but when i dropped her back the noise disappeared. i was told if this was to happen it would be that my resonator is blocking up, so i changed it but the noise is still. took it in for another opinion and my first assumption i made when i first heard the noise was correct, the left hand exhaust manifold is cracked. gonna cost me 60 for a new one and hopefully problem over. apparently exhaust manis on the vr/vs were pretty crappy and cracked easily and condisering when the engine gets warm it causes the crack to expand causing the noise and also those engines lift from the left which doesnt help much in my case!! so in short lol check ur exhaust manifolds
ps my vr is slow to react when put in reverse to lol its just character lol
