i think your carbon canister in the engine bay thats either leaking or needs replacing.

have you checked for any fuel leaks in the hoses or lines?

hey i got the same problem but i think mine is coming from the gasket between the motor n the headers cause wen i accelerate it sounds like air is escaping like a putting sound to the engine but wen i sit on say 60kph the sounds disappears till i put my foot back down. also leaves a vapour stain of sum sort around that area.

wouldnt have a clue im a newbie anyway.

Yeh, check the engine bay for sure.

You may have knocked one off the press fit lines off of the vapour cannister or have cracks, loose clamps somewhere.

Make sure you deal with this ASAP as you have a fire hazard there.

should be next to the battery, looks like a big black cylinder with 2-3 little hoses coming from it.

i have found a few commodores with a few km's on them to have leaking fuel caps, once the car has been driven for a bit get out and smell all around the car, if you smell fuel around the cap replace it.

the last one i did had this same issue and it was a vg commodore ute....

There are breather hoses around the tank that will normally cause the fuel smell when the tank is full. Inside the cabin fuel smell normally comes from the engine bay. Just have to check everywhere really closely. Give all the hose clamps a tighten. Have a search around the forums to see what other people have done to fix the problem.
