Help with “Lazy” Cruise Control on VS Calais V8

My Calais has been off the road for the last five months getting an engine rebuild. Now that it’s back on the road, I find that the cruise control is very lazy and slow although it still works. The cruise control on/off button seems to work fine and the cruise on lamp comes on/off at the right time. However, when I press the “set” button, the cruise engagement lamp comes on immediately, but the car loses around 10kph over the next 5-10 seconds, after which the speed gradually increases to the set amount or a little bit lower. Same thing happens if “resume” is selected once cruise has been disengaged via the brake pedal. Disengage works fine and is immediate, but taps ups and tap downs are also very slow. I’ve swapped the cruise control module for another one but it didn’t make any difference. Appreciate any ideas and help.

The only other 2 things involved in the system would be the speed sensor and the ECU. You could try swapping the ECU over to see if it makes it better.

I doubt it would be the switch.

is the cable tought? it should have a little paly but not too tight this may be causing the slow ingagement as its use to the shorter length
also is the cable kincked, im not 100% shure on how the v8's run there cruise wire but if its kincked than it will cause it to be slow also
