here's the deal
i had the bonnet up to put in HID's.
when i went to shut the bonnet, didn't close. i take the usual route of where did i leave tools, but nothing is left out or in the way, and yes i thoroghly checked all HID looms etc.
i figured the issue was in the release latch, when the bonnet release was pulled the bonnet would shut, but it would not hold it down. when slammed it would just bounce back.
i greased and lubed the latched, slamed it, and yes! it shut!
BUT
now it won't open. the bonnet release still has tension, but it feels like it is under a lot of strain. i go tthe old man to pull on the cable while i try and bounce the bonnet but no success.
to ANYONE that can fix this, i will offer $50 and a 6-pack of their choice, want this fixed ASAP!!
located in mount waverley.
Can you access the cable near the kick panel? If so, maybe try pulling on the bonnet release cable with a pair of pliars?
tried this, it just starts to stretch the cable so don't want to snap it. i think i need to bounce the front of the bonnet... but GAH! anyone that can come round and fix it will be praised!
Get underneath the middle car at the front and look up. You should see the bonnet pin and on the end of it is a slot, undo this pin by unscrewing the pin using a flat blade screw driver, the bonnet should now open.
Had this happen a while ago.
Slide up under the middle of the front with a long flat-head screwdriver. If you're looking through the right hole, you should be able to see the pin that's attatched to the bonnet to hold it shut (as said before).
Unscrew the pin.
The bonnet should pop. Now before you shut it, you shouldn't need to slam it at all, i.e. you should be able to push is shut or drop it from a short distance.
The most likely cause of this is that the spring that holds the pin in has bent. If you look into the hole next to the hole that the pin goes down, you will see a thick piece of wire that turns into a spring. That is the spring that holds the bonnet shut.
All of the coils within that hole are part of the the spring. You can pry out the spring with a screwdriver (just make sure to wrap it in cloth or something, so you don't scratch your paint). Another one of these cost me $5 from the wreckers.
When you go to put the pin back into the bonnet, just make sure that the pin is turned so that the cut in the tip of the pin is going in the opposite direction to the wire that holds the pin down.

UPDATE:
go the bonnet to pop, the pin didn't unscrew, but shoved a screwdriver in and bent something and it popped. bonnet is now staying unlocked untill its fixed :P
the cable is definately fine, it has tension and snaps into place nicely. i think it must be the spring, i'll bite the bullet this arvo and drop into holden to see if they can fix it.
michaelw: which thread? can't see a link.
Sorry, link fell off, fixed now. look up.
