Hi,
My manual VS revs funny.
Often when I go to stop at the lights or a stop sign or wherever, I put the clutch in (as you do so you don't stall), but it revs quite highly. It hangs around 2000 for a bit and then drops to normal idling 750 revs after a few seconds.
What is the problem and can it be fixed easily by me (don't know too much about these things)?
Cheers,
(a secondary question: when I accelerate beyond Granny Mode, a breathy/airy sound can be heard, sometimes even whistling. Any ideas?)
when about when you put it in neutral and let the clutch out and roll, does it still stay high? Or is only when you have the clutch in?
Nah it doesn't make a difference at all
I would be cleaning your throttle body and removing the Throttle Position Sensor and Idle Air Control valve and give them a good clean too, then see how it goes. Sounds like the TB is letting in too much air on idle hence the high rpm.
either gunk round hte throttle, clean as Mack posted, or you have a vacuum leak or hose has come of the pcv valve at the back from the throttlebody
my manual vs did this.
If you were rolling with the clutch in, it reved high, once stationary it settled down after a few seconds.
I would still clean the TB and the IAC just to be safe.

throttle body gunk... my vs 304 did the same thing .

the two ton go kart
or it could be what happened to me once, the screws that hold the butterfly in place loosened and jammed the throttle body open as i was approtching a stop sign. its not nice
