not reccomended but i have heard if people doing it, also it can lead to a run away situation where it will pick up on the reves and only stop when it sezes......i would just buy the cheep oil and change it each week and when its clean put the good stuff in...

I've heard you can use diesel oil as it has a higher detergent content but it is not recommended for extended periods cause i think it also has a higher zinc content or something that may wreck the O2 sensor.

It's possible you are talking about putting diesel fuel - not oil, in the sump and running it to loosen crap. Back a few years it was not uncommon to flush the engine by filling the sump with kerosene and idling for a minute or so and then dumping the lot. That was when compression ratios were about 6 to 1 whilst nowdays they are around 10 to 1 plus engine clearances were much greater than in modern cars.
So really there is no way I'd put diesel fuel in the sump. Diesel oil is OK in an engine that is not worn but as VR38 says it may affect sensors.

Running your motor with a fuel as the lubricant is asking for a fire or explosion even IMO.

Have to say I've used the procedure on the last few cars I've bought and havent had an issue . Each car the oil was black as , so dropped the oil , sump plug back in of course , thrown in 4 litres of diesel , kicked it over and let it idle for a few minutes , no revving . Dropped out the diesel and filter , changed to the right stuff , and for the last 2 years every oil change hasn't come anywhere near the colour black . No blown seals or sensors .

Not recommending anyone doing it , just saying that it does clean it out good and proper though
