    Default Tranny Problems

Hu guys. Ide thought ide drop a question in here.

I was driving my VS around on Friday night when all of a sudden i started smelling burning oil... I stoped to check the engine and it seemed fine, oil was there.
I kept driving and eventually after stoping at a traffic light i noticed that ide put the peddle down... but the wheels where moving.... "WTF" needles to say was my first reaction.

I drove into a shopping centre poped the hood and checked the tranny oil. Nothing in there. so I bought some tranny oil and filled her up. the engine warrning light is still on and the car still doesnt move like it should.

You take off in D and it feels like its only in third gear. But going down the gears help.

Only thing i can think of is a broke a seal and oil isnt going to the tranny propperly and instead is getting burnt up on my exuast.

Any one have any ideas? theres still a faint odhour of oil burning and redish (tranny fluid) spots on my concrete.

If it is just a seal. whats the best way to get it fixed?

Sounds like you need to take it to a Tranny specialist.

ive had a simular problem only it was more severe. I had a hose pop off and i left a whole expensive trail all the way to the servo about 1.5 km away. Well the car wouldnt get out of first gear and acceleration wasnt there. Once i got to the servo i tried to move up to the pump and the car just revved and barely moved. Basically the torque converter wasnt delivering the power to the wheels due to no fluid.

Best thing to do is get under the car by using some ramps or a good trolley jack with jack stands (if i see u not using jack stands i will kick ur arse! ) and see where the fluid is coming from. My problem was simply a worn hose clamp, $2 at Mitre10.

    here was the aftermath:

well i got under there. The pump hose isnt loose theres nothing loose that you can phisacly see or feel unless you start to dismantle things. Feels like pump isnt working in Drive. A little oil drips but very LITTLE like a drip every 30-40 min. Ive ran out of ideas. Ive been told its safe to drive in 1st 2nd and third untill i get it fixed. Any one here have any more wood to throw in the fire regarding this issue?

It may only be dripping when stopped but who knows how much oil pressure is lost when giving it a boot down the road. Wouldnt hurt to get a trans service, $120 it cost me and they do the fluid and the filter and they see wats wrong with it professionally.
