weird a/c troubles?

i bought my vs wagon about 1 year ago and the ppl i bought it off said the a/c dont work, we tried it a few times and still nothing.... the other day we were driving and thought we'd try it again and bang it worked so we kept it on for about 1 hr and just kept driving, we went up this dirt track and hit a few holes and it shut off again no theres nothing? any sujjestions???

Maybe a bad connection at the compressor or or any number of places.

As accentstencil says - a bad/loose connection. Check fuses and relays as well. The drier at the front has pressure switches which can easily get the wires knocked off. Another prime suspect is the wire to the magnetic clutch on the compressor where it joins - follow the wire from the compressor.
