I have a '96 Vs which had been dumped in a paddock 2 yrs ago, have got most of it working but I am flustered over the srs air bag light wont go out. Is there an easy fix or will I have to fork out for the dealer to fix it? I have tried disconnecting the battery as advised and standing on the brake for a while, still no effect.
Disconnecting the battery wont make the Airbag light go out, you need to go and have it done at a dealer. Dosnt have to be Holden but they must have the tech 2 to access the computer.
There will be an error in the Air Bag system, hence why the light is staying on. It could be the clock spring behind the steering wheel, often these break. As soon as you can get it hooked up to the TECH II system, you will be able to find out exactly what the problem is.
Yep off to the dealer. They can check for the fault, if there is no fault they can clear it. If you turn the car on while the instrument cluster is out you will activate it.
Thanks guys, Have been to the dealer and had it cleared, Grand total $75 later. The coil spring is not a spring at all, it is a coil of cable designed to allow for travel as the stearing wheel turns,If anyone else wishes to play with this item I suggest they read the instructions very carefully as misassembly could cause all sorts of problems. Anyway, all fixed now, thanx again.
