sorry it might sound like a dumb question but ive gone from a carby to efi vehicle, theres nothing in my maxellerys manual about removing the plugs,i was just wondering what tool or socket to use. when i take the leads off the plug they have black rubbers around them i dont want to damage them any help? cheers!
most socket sets include a spark plug tool. its about 2" long. Any auto shop will sell a spark tool with a soft handle and spring $10
no longer a hoon by association - the commodore is gone
The tool is just a long socket witha rbbber seat/grommet at the opther end that acts as a seat for the porcelin(spelling?) insulator so it won`t crack.
P.S don`t carby engines have spark plugslol, I just had to say it no offence.
haha yer sorry they got spark plugs i mean there just easier to change in the old kingswood haha
I think what you're getting at is removing the plug lead from the sparkplug - you need to only pull on the cap that covers the sparkplug - don't pull the actual lead as you will break it. If you still have the steel heatshields grab them hard and twist and pull....they can be difficult. Once they are off its a piece of cake.
Then toss the heat shields in the bin, silicone is more than enough.
