Hi guys,
Just new to commodores, Ive noticed an oil build up in the middle of the inlet manifold (in the little hole inbetween each inlet pipe). It's the V6 3.8ltr, I guessed it was a rocker cover gasket, just by its location, there is no oil leak dripping down the back of the car, and not overflowing from the inlet manifold. It's only on one part of the manifold, and when the car is rev'd there are no signs of oil leaking from anywhere.
any ideas guys? i'm stumped
Cheers
Clean it aaaaallll out, make everything in there immaculate, then observe over the next day where it comes back from
That's the handy thing I find about having a spotless engine bay and underbody. When you get a new leak, it's dead obvious where it's coming from![]()

positive crankcase ventilation valve is blocked, clean it and the engine will burn the oil fumes that causes the problem in the first place.

about 10 second's ~ but i cant show you it's been awhile since iv'e see a V6.
ask sombody to post a pick and mark it (they are usually a small metal cylinder with a vacuum hose)
fitted to the rocker cover.

they block up with carbon deposits which is normal, simply remove the unit in vacuum pipe and wash it that it.

so yeh, that's on the left side of the engine is it? (drivers side)
and that would cause an oil spillage onto the manifold would it
i didnt want to sound rude, just clarifying
there are two pipe's one draw's the air into the motor from the manifold to the rocker cover this one has the metal valve ~ the other is from the bell mouth to opposite rocker cover.
you need help with someone whom has a V6 to tell what side the valve is actually located.
i have a V8 so my setup is different.

on the VR 3.8 V6 the PCV valve is at the front of the intake manifold in front of the thermostat housing under a large nut
