Thats a hi/lo pressure switch - cuts the compressor if there's no gas (lo) or the pressure is too high.

o yeah cool y i was wandering cos my a/c wasnt working checked fuses and relays they were fine but what i did notice is there was no power at all at any of the conections that the relay goes in i ran a wire from the positive of the battery to the compressor and it works fine i was going to leave it like that and rig it up on a switch but yeah dont want the thing to blow up if the pressure gets to high
how does that switch work does the power go in on 1 wire and out the other if so what wire is it that the power goes on in or is it a positive and negative un fortunately i know a bit about cars but not much about electrics
any info would be much appreciated
    cheers

Can't help you with the wires to the hi/lo pressure switch. The usual scenario is that the hi/lo pressure switch will cut power if gas pressure/refrigerant gets below a certain point to prevent the compressor damaging itself....usually will happen if you have a leak. The high pressure side will usually only kick in if too much refrigerant has been added...when it heats up it trips the pressure switch, cools and pressures drop, kicks in again etc etc.
The system shouldn't "blow up" unless its had too much refrigerant added recently but its your decision to run it hotwired.
Do a google on car airconditioning - should give you more info.
