slipping trans componment

[VL Berlina 5speed]

checked my mates vr a few weeks back and came up with slipping trans componment

now he has a trans sat around the side of the house but we were wondering is it possible to just change anything ie: sensor or somthing or would it be internal like the bands slipping?

i got the same error code in my vr. theres another thread where someone sugested the torque converter clutch (tcc) or the tcc solenoid

how did you check for this code and what did it end up being? i have the engine check light on my vr and when i take off from a stop it slips like crazy and takes ages to get moving.
