want to put a 3" exhaust on my car its fitted with a 2.5 now but im not happy with the note or loudness of it can anyone tell wat the best way to improve this is
v8 or 6banga mate?
if its a v6 dont bother with a 3"
just remove a muffler/replace with hotdog or something
post up some info about ur car..
is it stock, 6 or 8 and wat exhaust u got
Put a 3" on your V6, you will lose power, and it will sound god bloody awful. V6's don't sound good with big exhaust's.
A 3" would be way to big for a 6 banger and you will lose power. IMO, you can't make a V6 sound good, or sound like a V8.
V6's sound bloody hillarious with big exhausts. So tinny and high pitched LOL. They sound as bad as 4 bangers lol.
Hi there.... Have you had a listen to my exhaust in the V6 exhaust thread... i think i have made a V6 sound quite good (for a V6 that is .... a V8 will always sound better).. it's possible to get a V6 to sound decent ... if you want to, have a listen and let us know what you think.
To OP.... do not get a 3'' it is too big and will sound worse... and people will wonder why the hell you put such a big exhaust on a V6 when the engine doesnt make enough power to utilize it.
Each to their own dude. Doesn't matter what exhaust you put on a V6, it still sounds like a V6 with an exhaust. I reckon they all sound gay. But that's just me. Some people like the sound, some don't.
Make sure on your 2.5' you have a good CAT ! High flow. Standard Cats that have been cut and tubbed for a bigger pipe are still restrictive on both counts, flow and sound.
I wouldnt bother with the 3 inch . Stick with what you got . . Have you got Extractors?

hmm... i guess you decided to not have a listen ... mine may not sound as gay as the rest... i put an exhaust on for the power benefits and got lucky with a decent exhaust note to go with it ... i dont particularly go for the v6 exhaust sound but it is what i have for now.
i agree the V8 note is supreme ...
Nah, i listened to it dude, hence why i made that post. It sounds like a V6 with an exhaust to me. But yeah, not everyone likes V8's, not everyone likes V6's, each to their own. The world would be boring if everyone liked the same thing.
Oh well, i failed to get you to recognize the quality of my V6 exhaust note...(jokes)
Yes, life would be boring if everyone liked the same thing ..... i find it interesting with the blokes supercharging and turbo'ing there V6's and making them superfast rather than owning a V8 ..... All of it is good stuff.
Yeah but generally a blown or turbo'd 6 will eat a 5 litre. Unoless it's not boosting properley. Boost eats 5 litre grunt. But 5 litre grunt sounds tough.....
yes thats true... was just pointing out how some like to work on V6's to go hard and some like to work on V8's.... hence it would be boring if everyone did the same thing.
I think i would rather a thumping V8 to a V6 whining and peaking out..... as you have mentioned, it is each to his own ....
Yeah, plus if i wanted mad power, i'd buy an LS1 and go to town on it with mods. But, i don't like anything past the VS model in Holdens, therefore i wouldn't buy anything LS1.
I could probably handle owning a VT or VX, but the rear end and tail lights of the vy and vz is terrible imo...Which is the first model to have an LS1?
I like the VR/VS shape the best .... even though they dont have 5.7ltr engines....
I would like a VS Clubsport ... and just work the 304.... vn calais manual's black clubby looks awesome imo.....
Wouldn't mind driving a LS1 one day to see how they go....
If a vx have ls1 engines....it is probably the only other model i would get past the vs.

hmmm...this thread is supposed to be about exhausts and my last post had nothing to do with exhausts....
sorry OP....havin a few's.....and steered right off topic...
Redback (Part No wild032) extractors, hi-flow cat converter, and redback 2.5in cat back dogleg style exhaust with no hotdog..... and you should have a nice sounding exhaust note for your V6![]()
First model to come out with an LS1, was the VT SS series 2. Any V8 off the line up until present, has an LSX engine in it, whether it be LS1, LS2 or LS3.
Some VR / VS had 5.7ltr engines. They were the 215i HSV's. 215i ='s 5.7ltr stroked 304 block. Found in Senators, Clubbys, GTS's and GTS-R's.
^^^^cheers for the info .... i am clear about which models have the LSX engines now ... didnt know the 215i HSV was a 5.7ltr .... even though it makes common sense.
guys thanks for the advice as it is now i just got the standard 6 havent changed the cat yet will that make much difference and ive got pacemaker extractors with straight through muffler
