Default engine cover, on or off ?

Does the plastic holden engine cover on an ecotec actually do anyting, like insulate the intake ? or is it a waste of space and better left under the house ? I reckon they suck cos they block the view of the engine! opinions please. On or off for track day ?

get rid of it and polish up your plenum. looks shit loads better. but on a more serious note.

why do they bother with the covers. if they have no purpose?

Yeah, definantly keep it off, they look crap. As Haydz said, polish up the manifold etc underneath, looks heaps better.
