    Default Changing head gasket - Requirements ?

    Hi guys i have an vr series 2 v6 (ecotec) that's blown the left head gasket,besides the obvious head gasket are there other consumables that i'll need to buy/replace ?

    some oxy sensor safe sealant too, oil and oil filter, engine coolant too.

    Any time the inlet manifold comes off a little bit of water always finds its way into the engine, so an oil change is ood cheap insurance.

    great thanks for the replies guys,pretty sure i read somewhere about new bolts for the head or did i imagination that ?

    i have never replaced them before, but do add head stud sealent, may not be required but ive never had a problem when i did used it

    yeh you dont really need to replace then although they can stretch but its rarely

    Head bolts will go around again unless the engine has been cooked!

    Atleast thaty's what my Holden dealer tells me!

    See how much they are i rekkon (hopefully there in better condition than the rusted pos i pulled outa my vn when i changed the water pump) if there not to dear i'll pick some up,but i'll have a good look at them when they come out,any doubts they get replaced
