Moff_man nah i had the geabox serviced by a transmission specialists and now appears to be misfiring badly. i have the engine light staying on all the time but i have done the dignostic check and comes up with the code 12(all good it seems). So perhaps it could be the spark plugs or maybe a bung leeds? Also i check the spark coming from all the leeds and they all have really good spark.! So im not sure what to check next if i dont have a fault come up on the computer.
    Cheers

It's remotely possible the trans people dislodged something when doing the service although they would have taken the car around the block after servicing to check all is OK. If the plugs and leads are fairly old then it may pay to change them.
Where to look for the fault really depends on many factors like how worn is the motor (how many KM), does it blow blue, black or white smoke, does it lose coolant, use much oil, is the battery and terminals in good nick? etc etc.
Throw a few answers to the above back to this forum and I'm sure the members can help.

Thanks Moff_Man & Hako, i will first change the leads and plugs and then see if it fixes the problem!, the VR is getting old 257,000km, but i keep it in tip top condition.

    Cheers....Peter
P.S..does anybody know a good honest mechanic in the (Waverley) area..Melbourne
    Thanks...
