    Default Stock 5 'vs' Senator 215i

    Hey all, i just joined this site. I love VS's and had a few. Mainly utes. I want ti buy a VS 5L Spack 98-00 series 3. Cant afford or find a good SS or Maloo. So i'll go the 5liter Spack. Now i want to rebuild a stock 5 to the HSV Senator's 215i standard. Searched everywere to find engine stats. Like cams, pistons, heads etc. Found nothing!
    I want a tough, strong, un stroked engine. The 215 output or there abouts is good enough for me. Any good advice would be great. Any new mates around the Fremantle WA area would be sweet to.
    Cheers Aj

    I maybe wrong but I'm sure the 215i was a stroked 5L..

    the only way to get that power without opening the engine up is, CAI (cold air intake) K&N high flow panel filter extractors decent exhaust set up and a foamy (greanfoam) tune to suit. Some diff gears a covette servo and a hi-flow cat will also help things. with everything else kept good and fresh like plugs leads etc... then you will net 200kw+.

    yes it was.. and you may also like to know that in the Series 1 VT`s they had a 220kw stroker for the top of the line HSV`s (GTS/senator) then a couple of years later you could by a 220kw berlina in the form of a LS1, lol the change was wild.

    Umm.. there's no such thing as a 5L S-Pack. The 5L S-Pack is an SS.

    S = v6
    SS = v8

    Also, just out of curiosity, why no stroke? Do you not want to rebuild the bottom end?

    Actually your wrong, there was a few 5litre S-packs.
    In the series 1 and 2 VS UTES only, they didnt have the SS ute until series 3 im pretty sure, so they had the 5ltr as an option on the Spack utes.
    And yes the 215i are a harrop stroker, and arent the best out there, if you were going to stroke your motor you would want something better than the factory style setup.

    The Factory strocker is pretty good, they can make around about 190-200rwkw with nothing more than some extra timing and run 13's

    Yep seen those, funny to see but still that (motor) was the only difference
    between the S and the SS.
    F.Y.I the series 3 SS utes have the VT SS "commodoreSS" stickers/decals and VT SS(blue) seats.

    Yep series 1 VS atleast had 5ltr S pak. I know because my mate had one, was auto though.

    But as per OP, the 215 engine was definatly stroked.
