ok ive gotta change the spark plugs, this will be the first plug change ive done so im a lil outa my legue when it comes to good plugs, (ive finaly got a gregorys by the way!)
so what are the best plugs i can buy for the v6 ecotec?
im lookin at NGK plugs but i dont know what kind will work best
you dont turn a holden off
you power it down!
for any one who asks, holdens dont leak oil, there marking there territory
Champion Gold . They are cheap, and will just about outdo all the "Big" name so called performance plugs out there. Doing mine this weekend, and for a set of 8 it cost me $21.00 to my door off Flea bay.
I have seen these plugs fix all types of misses, and hesitations in motors before, which is why i continue to use them today. They also out performed the big name brand in a comparative article in Hot 4's a few years back. Shit all over the much more expensive plugs. ON THE DYNO TOO ..
I am sure everyone will say Platinum, 4 prong iridiums and all that jazz. But you just do not need them.
I like the NGK R spark plugs...... I have run them for a few different make and model cars and they have performed well on all of them.
Good life span and car performs fine too using them!!
Bosch. Only because I run bosch everything else. They're not expensive, and they're not cheap. They're just normal, which is perfect![]()

use either the NGK V cut plugs or the champion Gold plugs. both are basically the same, they cut a 'V' into the electrode. i believe the correct standard plug is a BPR6EFS (NGK) if memory serves me correctly. also make sure they are a firm 1.5mm gap. forget all the platinum/iridium plugs etc. waste of money

I was looking at the Bosch Fusion F5's but they are about as expensive as a bottle of JD's on a good day...and I have no idea what they are like having never actually used them yet lol

I gap mine to 1.05mm, and don't get any blowout - the more you can get away with the better
What are the said advantages of the V cut electrode? I've seen those![]()

seams to me that the NGK plugs are the ones to go for (if hrt like them they must be good hahahaha)
thanks heaps for your help guys, im about to go pick em up!!

Bosch platinum's in mine, my car doesnt seem to like ngk's
Champion Gold they work well for me
if you shoot nevyn a PM he sells Bosch super 4 plugs for $30, they fixed a miss and hesitation in mine, well it helped fix the hesitation, other things fixed that 100% :P
I agree, Champion Gold(currently using). Champion cut the V into the top electrode, NGk V power have it in the centre electrode. Champion standard plugs once had a bad rep, but i have read it about all plugs about top electrode coming loose of NGK plugs etc, all had a bad run. Champion Gold has been quoted many times to be better than the other fancy metal plugs. I think they also have a 3 year unlimited k's warranty......but since i have LPG i change every 15,000 or so any plug. Part No. for mine are RS7YX6. These are one grade cooler, so get the normal one.
What i will try next time is non-resistor plug. Ice Ignition tout this as the way to get a bigger spark, especially with high performance, alternative fuels, 'LPG'. The resistor in plugs apparently is around 5000 of resistance so weakens the plug. The leads are already low resistance enough. Ice Ignition, i doubt anyone can argue with them.....
Do NGK still make the V-Power, its hasnt been on their site for a while. NO info anymore.
Some of the best plugs available i believe are Denso Plugs (from Toyota, apparently Holden standard now), and Brisk Silver PLugs. $11 each for plugs made from Silver from Aussie distributor in Melbourne.
try this link, 2nd plug down the list

Recommended Plug is NGK BPR6EFS-15 (1.5 mm gap) as has been said. My car has a GM sticker in the engine bay on the passenger side strut that says that as well from memory. I did mine the other day, cost $32 for 6 at Repco.

Yeah repco expensive for plugs, Supercheap has em for $4.50 each. The Champion Gold are cheaper. I have a sticker in my engine bay mentioning NGK part number and Denso part number.
