Hi, I've searched through a few posts but couldnt find anything that was exactly the same a smy problem.
Yesterday i drove my car to a mates place in the next town, all fine. going well just like usual. However, today i got into my car and went to start it, and nothing. I turn the key all the way and it doesnt do a thing, the headlights turned on, but they were pretty dim, the interior roof lamp works, the cd player would turn on for a couple of seconds and then die. No lights would come up on the dash, (red engine, air bag lights etc), they didnt light up at all like usual.
When i tried to turn it over, there was a clicking sound from the fuse/relay box under the bonnet, but other then that it was dead.
Thinking it was a flat battery i walked up the road to AutoPro, and the guy there said that if the battery is nearly dead the headlights etc will work but there wont be enough juice in the battery to make the starter motor try to turn the engine over. So i bought a battery charger and its currently charging.
What else could be the problem? A mate has said it may be the regulator on the alternator, the alternator itself may have died and didnt charge the battery when i used the car last, something to do with the ignition, immobiliser or something.
I'm going to check those few things tomorrow if the newly charged battery doesnt work, but what else could it be? Please help, without my car i'll die :/ lol Thanks in advance
its the battery. But check your alternator asyell. Read the sticky about vs v6 owners. Could be that wire at the back of the alternator good luck. Worst me it could be a new alternator
Yep it was the battery, like i first expected, and hoped it was lol. Put the newly charged battery in this morning and kicked over without a fault. I'll still check the alternator, but the wire at the back looked fine without taking the cover off, but will have a good look when i get the time. Thanks for the help ^^
