    Default vr climate control problems

whenever i accelerate hard or the car is going up hill, and i have the climate control on a/c, it stops coming out of the top vents and comes out of the feet vents instead, until the accelerating stops when it comes back to the face vents, any ideas what is wrong or what needs to be fixed?

As far as I know the A/C system should turn off when accelerating harder (like when you over take) to give you the most power. If your sure it's still coming out cold on your feet then maybe it's a slight vacuum leak somewhere...maybe a split in a hose.

Yep, Wavez is right - It is a vacuum leak. The most likely cause it a faulty vacuum solenoid block ($100 to replace). Otherwise there is a small one-way valve (black and white) attached to the plenum. It might be faulty. Or you could indeed have a cracked hose

In any case there are heaps of threads on each of these, even one posted yesterday! - Do some searching and I thing you will solve your problem.

Go to Holden, get a vacuum solenoid block - about $104

The is also a one way valve (at least on the VS there is) that should only by a few dollars to replace. It is black and white and will be attached to a hose near the throttle body somewhere. Make sure you put it on the right way.

I would fit it myself - Otherwise, get your mechanic, auto electrician or air con person to do it (where are you?). But they will probably charge a fair bit to do it, and it is about 10-20 mins work. You can do it without pulling the centre console out, but it is easier to access the acrylic vacuum manifold if you do. Do a search and you will find bits and pieces of wisdom if you are going to attempt to do it yourself.

    I paid about ~ $104 at a Holden dealership 3 weeks ago - Don't let them charge you $130.

But do check out the thread that Surfwagon suggested.

I paid similar but when I reported that people kept telling me that they aren't that cheap so I only quote retail price GST inclusive now.
