ok i have searched a bit but i cant find anything about cutting bumpstops for the live axle, basically today i removed the upper spring insulators to get the car a bit lower which worked a treat. so now the axle is pretty close to the bumpstops, just wondering what other people think about cutting the bumpstops in half.
heres a pic

well firstly im fairly sure you are only allowed to change the distance between the axe and bumpstop by 1/3 or the travel to any bumpstop by 1/3 technically.
If its not sitting on it leave it alone, cutting it will only make it less effective when your axle hits it, and hit it, it will.
baaaaah just do what i did and leave it, stiff as ****
passenger's hate it because i hit bumpstops on pretty much anything but a perfect road but meh! if your doing it for looks then who cares :P
cut em you'll be fine.. worst case buy some new ones from a wreckers.
I cut mine down to nothing, about 1/2". Works wonders. Oh, have fun getting them back in if you decide to take them out to cut.![]()
i went to tafe with a fella that kept cuttin his springs to the point that he just took them out, then cut 3/4 off the bumpstop, it was so low that he got stuck on speed humps, but the cops loved him to. if your car is so lowthat its close to the bumpstop, i can garantee that cops will still their head under there eventually. if all the bumpstop is there they may be a little kinder than if the see a sawn of stump of rubber.
If it aint broke, dont fix it.
