    Exclamation Oil seal under harmonic balancer (quick reply plz)

    How the hell do u get this thing off? I can see some sorta blue glue or something on there. I've pried of the outer edge of the seal with a screwdriver but the thing just isnt budgin...

    The normal way is just to use a flat blade screwdriver....or bend a piece of flat steel to get behind it being careful not to bust the housing. The blue stuff is just Permatex sealant. Another way is to knock the outer metal shell inwards with a centre punch - just a little around the edge breaks the seal and loosens it. Good luck.

    holden have a special pull tool to get it out normally it has a big hook on it, but we'l never get one of those so as above! Mangle it! lol

    As above its a round seal with steel shell that taps into a hole in the timing cover. Cost about $15-20
    After my first one shredded i was told to fill the lips with grease before fitting the harmonic balancer. That worked a treat.
