hey jujst had front wheels ballanced, and was alignend a few weeks ago and had got front end checked out, apart from a wheel being not ballenced all seems good. but any thing over 80km/ph a viabration is felt a fair bit through steering wheel. any ideas??? could rear tires that are un ballanced cause viabration through steering wheel. im lost?
Take it back and get them to check it again. Sounds like wheel balance.
You could try swapping front to back and see if it changes.
I had a 93 SII VP and I always had to get the wheels balanced on the car. If they where balanced off the car and then fitted they would get the woobles at high speed but balance on the car, no problems...
Might check your brake disc run out. Warped rotors can also cause a vibration.
Your wheel bearings might need attention but I would of think a wheel alignment would have found a bearing problem?
Shambos Ride! Check it out!
Rule of thumb:
Vibration under 80kph - front end issue
Vibration over 80kph - rear end issue
Suggest you get your rear tyres balanced. I had a similar problem to yours. Spent a lot of time and effort chasing a problem in the front which ended up being rear wheels out of balance.
Just a thought but there was also some talk recently on the forum that the VR/VS auto trans can develop a vibration which is usually felt at around 100kph.
Something to think about if suspension/wheels don't fix the problem.

hey, yeah when i spin wheels on the car when jacked up can see that tire has worn abit unn evenly, yesterday i put my gf wheels on and does same problem and hers is ok, maybe best changing front to back and back to front. was talking to the wheel ballencer dude he told me a rear unballenced tire would more shake body not through steering wheel.
and a questioon about wheel ballencing, how would it make a difference if i just took wheel off and gave it to a ballencer or if they did it when i i gave them the car can they actually do it on the car like one of the guys said??
Had a similar problem on an another car (not commodore) and eventually found it was a slightly bent wheel from where I had hit a large pot-hole.
The balance was appearing ok, but an experienced tyre guy showed me the slight out-of-round in the wheel when it was rotated slowly (by hand) on the balancing machine.
hey so well maybe do you think that maybe i should get the front tires re ballenced but drop the car into a place so they can ballence them on the hub and may solve the problem, viabration deffinatly through steering wheel not in seat so belive it is the front.
worn wheel bearings? rackends ball joint? will all cause vabrations. not always neccessarly a wheel balancing issue.
any way i an cheack if bearings, rack end etc have problem?? or maybe 2 moz im going to change back tires to front and see how that goes if notin emproves maybe 26 point inspection at pedders?? but if i can check at home i will but dunno how to tell if these things are worn?
i had a nasty vibration when i hit 120. took it in got all the wheels balanced. made it abit better, but was still not good. i gave up on it as i rearly hit those speeds. but as soon as i lowered the car the vibration disappeared. so it could be a problem in the suspenion.
If it aint broke, dont fix it.
