    Unhappy speedo and temp gauge problems

    hey everyone my speedo does'nt work and neither does my temp guage on my 95 VS SS i was just wondering how to fix it was wondering if anyone has had this problem and is it a common problem?

    The speedo is electronically operated, so I'd be checking the VSS (Vehicle speed sensor) from memory it is attached to the gearbox or transmission.

    Regarding the temperature gauge, it sounds like the SENDER is faulty. If you have a look under the bonnet, follow the top radiator hose to where it joins the engine block. Just under the thermostat outlet there should be a little brass coloured 'knob' which should have a black rectangular plug attached to it. This is the temperature sender for the guage, so check that it is connected properly, and failing that you can replace the brass sensor bit, its only $8 from Holden for the genuine part.

    do they not work at all? or do they sometimes work, maybe if you tap the top of your dash?

    both of those gauges have a three pronged voltage regulator on the circuit board of the cluster, its as simple as remove the cluster, strip it down, desolder the voltage regs and resolder them.

    I think there is an article in the HOWTO section on the temp gauge.

    thanx guys im gonna try all of that today except the soildering im gonna get my mate to come and do that im not to good at it lol ill keep you guys updated on my progress

    Question

    and i am having trouble finding either of the sensors can anyone point me in the right direction .... im lost.
