Default VR Instrument lights out. all bulbs and fuses ok. Suggestions?

    Hi Guys,
Was driving along the other night when a sound like a bulb popping came from the speedo etc and all the lights went out. was flying blind. When I got home i checked the fuse, was fine, so removed dash and pulled out cluster and checked every bulb, none blown. Any suggestions?
I'll try replacing them anyway but I suspect it may be a job for an auto electrician. Oh yeah the warning lights all still work just the lights for odo, tacho etc
    Any help much appreciated

    Which fuse did you check?
It sounds exactly like a fuse (the sound you described) so might pay to check all of them

check the park light's front and back, also do you have other lights in the car ie. cigarette lighter radio (if stock) a/c panel etc..... if all these are out than check fuse one. under steering column far left, also electric aril will not work. this fuse melts and brakes verry easly, mine did it the other day.

Thanks guys ill check every fuse in the car, but that one must work cause it runs the ignition too. I might just replace some anyway as they are looking a bit old.

    replace your dash cluster!
for a working one with working bulbs they'll set you back about $80...
from experiance it's worth the money as it's certainly not worth the hassel trying to replace blown items with in the cluster it'self!

Although i dont really want to buy a new cluster from wreckers or holden, if i was going to, what is the newest cluster that will fit into a vr? only like a vs? or could a vx or something fit? would be sweet to have a new dash cluster

Those lights are actually wired through a few different circuts.

Those lights are powered by the "parkers" circut. They then run through the dimmer switch.

If either of those are out too, then you have issues.

Do you head lights work? high/low beam/parkers

    aZk.
