im new to the site had a look back through the other threads and as far as i could see there were no existing threads on this so if i have missed one dont lose your shit!
i drive a vr 5.0 berlina wagon and am wanting to get as much out of my engine without hving to do a complete rebuild, well not yet anyway. just wondering if anyone has any suggestion on wat i should get i.e cold ari intake, cam, exhausts shit like that and wat are the best stuff to get!
cheers!
k&n panel filter, 2 1/2 twin exhaust with extractors and if its auto, diff gears and a shift kit. after that it'll be a fair bit quicker.
i'm the same i have a vr berlina sedan which was factory enhanced by hsv but after a k&n airfilter and a good exhaust i can run rings around my mates vs ss, but i'm the same as you and want more go so does anyone know what else i should do as i still got a couple of grand to spend so any ideas please?
if wanna spend a couple of grand cam it up and port polish the heads
when i get sad, i just stop being sad and be awesome...true story!
yeah that might be the way to go....just found out theres a HDT shop opening up nearby so i can see my savings disappearing very quickly
ok after a dyno and a service and once over of my engine and a quick compression test, one of the guys from HDT central Qld suggested i go for a side mount supercharger and gave me a ruff estimate $5500ish drive away. but another HDT worker told me bluntly that my car has over 225000kms so maybe i should think about freshing up the engine and gear box first.
so should i just get a rebuild for the engine or should i stroke it? and what can i do about the gearbox and ideas? i dont have the biggest budget atm (about $5000+) so hey and suggestions please?
i'd say when rebuilding it. stroke it while your there.
yeah thinking that and i see the come racing has some good deals atm but i really dont know much about this whole engine stroking thingand i'm not to sure if theres any places around mackay that do that kinda work so i guess i'll have to head down south
Without having to go nuts and spend the whole 5G's. Get the auto worked with a small stall in it and possibly rebuilt at the same time. Go a nice lumpyish cam and tune to get the sound and power happening up a bit higher. Good extractors and exhaust you probably have. Get it tuned up nice and whack in somer lower diff gears to make it haul off the mark. That little Diff/auotbox and cam combo should see you goin good on a budget.
sounds like a plan, thanks for the advice now just got to find a work shop in mackay that wont rip me of for the gearbox work ,ah well wish me luck
