VR's ran from '93 to '95 so any 4L60E with 3/4/5HDD should fit but be careful of some 5HDD's as they changed the wiring towards the end of the VR run. The number before "HDD" is they year the box was made.

no they are not electronicley controled as the vr one is

you can pick up a reco unit for around 1500 but if your straped for cash than the wreckers might be the go

i had the same troubls as you mate. i replaced my trans from my VR with one from the wreckers a 5HDD and it fits but you get massive converter slip due to different solenoids. have a look down the back of the long block on the pass side and you should be able to see a lable with 3,4,5 HDD on it (on the bell housing). 3 and 4 HDD will cross over but unless ur change you loom and computer the 5hdd most likly wont. hope this helsp

My whole car only cost me $600 so i don't think i'll get a reco'd one.

I was told that because i have a 3800 motor like VN's and VP's mine isn't electronically controlled?

    Ok i have a 4HDD so i will look for either a 3HDD or 4HDD.

Damn i wish you were closer too lol. Oh well i'll just keep an eye out for one, might go to a few wreckers and get some prices etc.

try and get a damaged one. then sell whatever is good on it and sell the shell for scrap!

wreckers will always try and do you.

the reason the gearboxes and shit are so expensive is because of how much work they are.

    so buy a wreck

From the 1994 GMH VR Service Manual

HDD refers to auto for V6 Engine
HBD refers to auto for V8 Engine

    1995 VS has the 6HDD
