    Default car alarm.

I woke at 4.50am this morning to my car alarm going off.
I don't know how it woke me cause you could barely hear it from my room and i'm a very heavy sleeper.. But you know, when your baby cries, you hear it.

    Id been broken into!!

Nothing stolen thanks to the alarm, which in a way was a plus considering I had a $1500 guitar amp head on the back seat.

But it got me wondering... why did the alarm go off?

Cause they had a hammer or something and had a smashed a hole in the right driver side window right above the button to lock and unlock it.

But I thought when you lifted that button it deactivated the alarm?

Like I've been sitting in my car before whilst it was locked, lifted that button and opened the door and the alarm hasn't gone off... why did it this time?

    Cheers, Dan.

Lifting the lock doesn't deactivate nor set the alarm off.

Next time, sit in the car, set the alarm, lift the button and then open the door - the alarm will go off.

Opening the bonnet, boot or any of the doors will do the same thing.

if its a factory alarm the door was prolly opened
if its aftermarket then popping the lock should trigger
mental note don't leave amps and valuables on seats for ppl to see

If its an aftermarket alarm the shock sensor would of gone for sure.
Otherwise, if the doors opened the door pins would trigger it, same goes for bonnet and boot. Also if its wired to the central locking, lifting the pin will set the alarm off.
Aftermarket may also havge a microwave sensor.
    Cheers,
    -Tom

Mmmm I was thinking the room light? When my button lifts, the light comes on... that would set off any alarm I install
