    Default springs

    hey guys,
i just brought some king spring super lows for my vs off ebay tonight and realised that it says Shorter rear shocks should be fitted on the rear to keep the springs trapped. will it be ok if i dont fit shorter rear shocks?

    thanks

They have been known to simply drop out of their mounts when the 'normal' shock absorber allows the suspension arm to travel far enough that the spring is no longer in contact with the mount.....not explained well but you should get the drift.

yeah, the stock shock can sometimes allow enough travel that the shorter sring can fall out when the shock goes to the end of its reach say when hit a big pothole or the alike. i havent heard of it very often, but it has happened.
If it aint broke, dont fix it.

The shorter shocks will also have a stiffer rating which suits the shorter spring and will improve the car's handling - the normal shock is designed for comfort and a boulevard ride. A cheap way out is to get FE2 shocks from a wrecker otherwise it's new ones...more money.

what he said. but i have to say, i had peddars lows for a VT with stock springs, and i found my handling was pretty incredible. since i have done SSL's with the monroe gas shocks, and i find the back is bouncing to much to provide any decent amount of handling, but that say, this town has more pot holes than road.

I have SL's in the back of the wagon and i am running normal travel shocks and they still trap the spring plenty, but they are progressive springs to so im not sure if they are slightly longer and thinner than a standard lowered spring. But just wait and see when you put it in if its gonna trap the spring good.
