    Default vs seatbelts problem

ever since i'v had my vs the drivers seatbelt buckle locks up really easy, its a pain to drive around in and lean forward slightly and find that the buckle has locked up. Today the buckle has locked up with no slack on it so i cant get it out. I took off my seatbelt and the thing has locked up completely. Is there any release for this or should i start scouring the wreckers for a new one?

when it comes to seat belts its allways best to replace, its againts the law to pull them apart and its just silly to do so as well, search the wreckers or buy a new unit

Should get one for $40 to $50 which I reckon is expensive but they are a 'roadworthy' item and in demand. New price is probably triple that.

in the seat belt mech there is a ball in it. if the mech is out of wack to what its recomnded to do then it will lock just slacken the retaining bolt and wriggle the unit around till its working freely

Just see if the bolt on the pillar is tight, as said above if the ball bearing is not in the scoop it will not unlock as it thinks its been installed in a incorrect position, now if you replace the reel bare in mind that when you unravel the new one it needs to be in the correct angle/degrees to roll out/unravel then you hold the slack. You will see a contraption through the clear plastic end on the reel as a aid to guiding the ball bearing to the right spot.

My opinion only but if there is any problem at all with the use of a belt....ditch it and replace it - your life may count on it. You might get it working again but it may fail just when you need it.
The replacement can only go on one way so it's basically idiot proof when re-fitting.
