hey again
the sandwitch plate oil filter adapter is being a pain, the screw for the filter is to long and i cant get the filter onto it when its time to screw it on, due to the back of the oil filter hitting the engine mount (ive allready had the screw cut down once) im thinking about scrapping this idea and just goin for a t peice but there is one other option, a remote oil filter
are these any good? more or less effective than attaching it to the block etc etc, basicly im lookin for some info on them and also pros and cons etc
cheers guys

how hard would it be to remove the adaptor everytime you fit a new oil fitlet?? if its an easy remove n replace i would just do that....
it wouldent be hard at all, but thats not the problem the problem is that i cant get the oil filter onto the screw that holds it on, cause the engine mount is in the way, its hard to decribe but i cant get the threads into the hole to screw it on

what wrong with the standard oil filter setup ? why use anything else , did you fit a bigger filter or something ?
he's using the sandwich adaptor so that he can fit the senders for the oil pressure and oil temps gauges.
have a look in my ride thread for pics of a remote oil filter setup

you read my mind hahaha, are remotes any good?
is there any drop in performance etc?

I used to run a Frantz remote bypass oil filter on my old Jaguar and it kept the oil just like new. They use a toilet paper roll as a filter and are used on cars and trucks...have been around for years.
Frantz Oil Filters
with the remote filter setup i'm running a filter that is much bigger and has a much larger filtration surface so more oil is filtered and less goes through the bypass. so cleaner oil for longer. all good in my book. if you go to the VN/VP history thread and look at some of the pics you will see when Holden was testing the engine on a dyno they were using a oil filter that looks to be the same size as the 304/308 Z9/Z30 filters

the only remote filter setups i have seen are on hot rods and one on a r32 gtr, they look good and the extra capacity they hold is a bonus, as long as the pump can pump the oil that is
the one that pops to mind is on a Chrysler flat head 6 which runs a z8 basically a z9 but with a small hole for a restriction
the other is on a 360 ci hemi (dodge polara lh drive still) manly for convenience for filter changes
both have ran these setups for years and years with no fault
wicked, looks like its worth wile doing, what set ups to you have?
whar parts, what filter size etc?

my setup is from Summit racing in the US Summit SUM-G4985 - SummitŪ Oil Filter Relocation Kits - summitracing.com although with the current exchange rate it's probably not that cheap. maybe try your local speed shop. mr Gasket brand does em to i believe. i had to drill and tap mine for the oil temp sender

ive looked all arround, this is the best deal, its ether this or $250 for one here, with steel braded hoses, how well does this kit hold up, can it handle high pressures, hard cornering etc, etc
also how long does it take to arrive?
ive almost had enough of this whole bloody saga, all these problems because 1 F**KIN screw is to long to fit the filter on!
